The artist in me goes back to my Texas roots, when people gathered on porches and told stories into the night. As an only child, I entertained myself with my own versions, put to paper with painted illustrations. It followed me through the years of school, marriage and motherhood, up to the present. In my working days, I prepped books for Auto Trader, designed for screen printers, worked for architectural artists, and saw some of my stories published. Apart from that, I have been a professional dog groomer and a volunteer for the SPCA. |
Before we moved to Prescott, thirteen years ago, our abode has been a variety of places; Las Vegas, Nevada; Riverside and Long Beach, California; and Hamburg, Germany. It was in Prescott that I discovered watercolor, at Yavapai College. Though not an easy medium to tame, I’ve enjoyed the challenge. Some of my work, in the gallery shows, won prizes in student competitions. I get as much pleasure, however, from other interests as mixed media, monoprinting and, recently, acrylics. As a member of The Mountain Artists Guild, I enjoy and participate in many of its events.

When my husband and I discovered Benson we knew we’d found our winter retreat, and purchased our 2nd home. We (and our three cats) enjoy its winter climate and, more especially, the opportunity it offers for riding our Harley. I have, since, joined the San Pedro River Arts Council and look forward to an active membership.
Kat was an exhibitor at the 2011, 2012 and 2013 Celebrate the Arts! exhibitions.
The three entries below were Kat’s entries in the 2012 show.
